Construction management at UBCS means we run the job for you. We bring the trades together, keep the schedule honest, watch the budget and look after safety and quality, from the day we mobilize until the keys change hands.
What construction management looks like day to day
On paper it sounds simple. You have a design and a budget, and you need a building. In practice there are dozens of trades, hundreds of decisions and a schedule that wants to slip every week. Our job is to carry that load so you can keep running your business.
We sit between the design and the trades. We price the work, hire and coordinate the trades, run the site meetings, chase the long-lead items and keep a written record of every change. When a problem turns up, and on a real job one always does, you hear about it from us early, along with a couple of ways to deal with it.
Why owners bring us in early
The cheapest time to fix a problem is before anyone has bought material for it. When we join during design, we can flag details that will be slow or expensive to build, suggest alternatives and set a schedule that reflects how the trades will actually sequence the work. That's how a budget survives its first month on site.
It matters even more on specialized buildings. On ground-up clinic builds like Art Dental Clinic in Waterloo and the Erin Mills Dental Clinic in Mississauga, the building has to be ready for the dental equipment, so plumbing, power and cabinetry are planned around the equipment layout long before the walls close.
Who we work with
Most of our clients need the building to perform from day one: dental and medical practices, commercial operators like Lucid Corp in Etobicoke, retail landlords, and families building custom homes in Mississauga, Toronto and Woodbridge.
Some come to us with a full design team already in place. Others come with an idea and a piece of land, and we help put the right people around it. We're comfortable either way.
- 01
Plan
We review the drawings, price the work, test the schedule and agree on a budget you can live with before anything starts.
- 02
Buy
We tender each trade package, compare the bids line by line and recommend the trades we'd trust on your site.
- 03
Build
A UBCS site lead runs the job day to day, with regular meetings, progress updates and a schedule that gets updated, not just filed.

Hand over
We close out deficiencies, collect warranties and manuals, and walk you through the building before we leave.
What's the difference between construction management and hiring a general contractor?
With a traditional general contractor you usually get one lump-sum price once the design is finished, and the contractor carries the trade contracts. With construction management we join earlier, help shape the budget and schedule during design, and run the trades with more visibility into the costs. The right model depends on how settled your design is and how much control you want over the numbers. We're happy to talk through which one suits your project.
How early should we call you?
Ideally while the design is still moving. Even a rough set of drawings is enough for us to give you a realistic budget range and a first look at the schedule.
Do you look after permits and inspections?
We work with your design team through the building permit process, then book and attend the inspections during construction so the work isn't held up waiting for sign-off.
Where do you work?
Our office is in Mississauga, and most of our projects are in the GTA and southern Ontario. Recent work includes Etobicoke, Toronto, Burlington, Waterloo, Newmarket and Woodbridge. If your project is further away, call us anyway.
